The BioCity Campus: Where Success Stories Are Written

The southeast of the city of Leipzig, at the heart of Germany, is home to Saxony’s booming biotechnology sector. Leipzig is known as a city of poets and philosophers thanks to its many renowned former residents, and it has been a hub for companies and research institutions in the fields of red biotechnology, life science, and healthcare since 2003. The location of the BioCity Campus on the grounds of the “Alte Messe” complex boasts excellent infrastructure, helping to promote synergy and fruitful partnerships between the various stakeholders and organizations located there.

BIO CITY LEIPZIG is the nucleus of the campus. It serves as an incubator for burgeoning companies with a focus on life science. It is also home to Leipzig University’s Centre for Biotechnology and Biomedicine (BBZ).

Preis für Innovation in der Medizintechnik

Alle zwei Jahre prämiert die deutsche Gesellschaft für Biomedizinische Technik im VDE in Kooperation mit der Stiftung Familie Klee herausragende Lösungen für medizinische Fragestellungen. Der Preis ist mit insgesamt 10.000 EUR dotiert und wird mit einer Urkunde ausgezeichnet.

Europa fördert Sachsen: Freistaat bewilligte im Jahr 2023 Zuschüsse im Umfang von 120 Millionen Euro für sächsische Technologieförderprojekte

Der Freistaat Sachsen kann auf einen erfolgreichen Neustart der strukturfondsfinanzierten Technologieförderung für den Förderzeitraum 2021 bis 2027 blicken. Im Jahr 2023 wurden Zuwendungen mit einem Gesamtvolumen von 120 Millionen Euro für 551 innovative Projekte gewährt. Die Fördermittel hierfür stammen aus dem Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE), dem Europäischen Sozialfonds Plus (ESF Plus) und dem sächsischen Staatshaushalt.

Knochenimplantate: Biomaterial hilft bei Knochenersatz

Ein 3D-gedrucktes resorbierbares Gerüstmaterial (Scaffold) von BellaSeno hat laut Ärzten der Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover erfolgreich dazu beigetragen, ein 14 cm langes fehlendes Knochenstück bei einem großen Radius-Segment-Knochendefekt nachwachsen zu lassen.
