Online Event: Long Night of Science Leipzig 2021

Online for the first time: The Long Night of Sciences Leipzig on July 16, 2021 from 18:00 p.m.! The children's program begins at 14:00 p.m., the live opening show starts at 16:30 p.m. and the virtual doors of the Leipzig Science Family open at 18:00 p.m.

Opening for curious young and old

Due to current events, the scientific institutions, together with the city of Leipzig, have decided that the event will take place online in 2021. Therefore, everything is different, but much remains the same.

Young explorers can choose from an interactive range of tours, workshops, games and questionnaires from 14 p.m. Here not only medical devices are illuminated from all sides, but also new acquaintances are made, like the one with the horse Pferdinand! Friend Teddy has to go to the hospital and is happy to be accompanied. This can be ordered conveniently and free of charge to your home, so that you and your children can treat Teddy. Elsewhere people ask whether grammar can be different and how much of a monkey there is in each of us.

After this foretaste for the little ones, the official opening show begins at 16:30 p.m. Streamed live and with many effects, Jack Pop invites you to be amazed and join in.

Killing, crawling animals, toilet and clay: A special science festival

From 18:00 p.m. everyone is invited to look over the shoulders of the scientists or to participate and also to discuss with them (zoom, teams and more make it possible). Live or as a recording, 108 Leipzig scientific institutions present their research facilities, their topics and their enthusiasm for science in a variety of ways.

Find out more about femicides and the important role insects play when they "walk over dead bodies". Would you like to know what potato soup and play dough have to do with statistics? Accompany nocturnal blossom visitors on a live tour through the botanical garden or visit the HTWK's "sanitary tower" - where a toilet becomes a laboratory. All information at:

The 7th Long Night of Science Leipzig

Since 2008, the University of Leipzig, the universities, the institutes of the research communities and companies, in cooperation with the city of Leipzig, have been inviting people to the Long Night of Science.
